Racism in Medicine Scholars Program

Meeting Times: Tuesdays, Bi-Weekly 7PM-8PM ETActs of implicit and explicit racism have been reported at our medical institutions for years. We recognize the historical challenges faced by race and ethnic populations, and we encourage students to meet the needs of groups that remain underrepresented and undervalued in public health.

Career Pathways Reproductive Leadership Program

This program delves into the many ways family planning can be researched and practiced, explore the impact of access to abortion care or the lack thereof, prepare students for residency with a focus on family planning, teach manual vacuum aspiration skills, provide messaging resources, and focus on the importance of wellness during medical education and physician practice. *Note: This program is only open to AMSA domestic medical student members and U.S. based international student members with a U.S. mailing address.Click here for more information

Sexual Health Scholars Program
Start Date: August 31, 2022
End Date: December 14, 2022
Meeting Times: Wednesdays, Bi-Weekly 7PM-8PM ETIssues with sexual desire, arousal, orgasm, or pain are common among all populations of patients, though are often seen as secondary to other medical conditions. What’s more, many physicians are unsure how to proceed with conversations about sexual health, leaving their patients at risk for decreased quality of life, depression, interpersonal conflicts, and potential noncompliance with medications.
Note: This program is only open to current medical students, graduate students and physicians/professionals. Premedical students are not eligible.

Utilizing critical lenses based in the lived experiences of those who as individuals and communities have been the targets and victims of sexual and reproductive health abuse, control, violence, and dehumanization.Click here for more information
